Six Seniors to Perform with Vocális Chamber Choir
Six senior members of the Amherst Central High School Concert Chorale were asked to perform in the Vocális Chamber Choir's annual Choral Connections at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo in May 2025. This year, Vocális welcomes the internationally celebrated and GRAMMY-nominated vocal quartet New York Polyphony for a series of events in conjunction with their concert Sunday, May 18.
A highly select vocal ensemble of students from Amherst, Sweet Home and Lewiston-Porter high schools was assembled to rehearse under the guidance of New York Polyphony and will perform English composer Ralph Vaughan William's (1872-1958) setting of "Sweet Day," text by George Herbert (1598-1633).
Amherst Seniors participating are soprano Sophia Giordano, mezzo-soprano Molly Duggan, tenor Noah Hester and basses Ryan Blatz, Christopher Dow and Max Goldhirsch. Each of these young artists will be majoring in music at the collegiate level next year.
Amherst Music Educators Erin Ayer (ACMS) and Patricia Hills (WBS) currently sing with Vocális, recognized in ArtVoice as Buffalo's "Best Choral Ensemble."
