Two Seniors are National Merit Scholarship Finalists
Erin Sheridan and Quinlan Lyle, both seniors at Amherst Central High School, were named National Merit Scholarship finalists. All finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarship Awards to be selected in March.
Erin would like to major in engineering in college and is considering either Clarkson University or Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Quinlan has not yet decided which college he will attend and is considering biology as a major.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships that began in 1955. United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of over 1.3 million entrants each year, and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.
