Sophomore Earns Second Place Entrepreneurship Award

Amherst Central High School sophomore Ryan Fortune earned a second place award in the Students to Startups business competition at the University at Buffalo for an app he created to help teens find jobs with homeowners in the community. He earned $500 in seed money for his Teen Tasker app. He markets his app as the next innovative networking and laboring app for teens. Other benefits of the Teen Tasker app include teaching teens a variety of skills, building relationships within the community, giving homeowners help with certain tasks and allowing homeowners to support local future generations.

Student Startups is a consortium in collaboration with Erie 1 BOCES, UB Startup and Innovation Collaboratory powered by Blackstone LaunchPad, WNYRIC, and Erie 1 BOCES Educational Foundation which is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. The competition included nine schools and was judged by a panel of industry professionals. Ryan represented Mrs. Pence’s Entrepreneurship classes at the competition.
